Mandatory Health History From and Immunizations
All exchange and new students are required by Student Health and Services (SHS) to complete online forms, including:
- Medical/health history
- Immunizations
- Meningitis information
All health history, immunization and meningitis information must be submitted via the Student Health Services Student Portal accessible from http://shs.wustl.edu. The SHS Student Portal is a secure website that uses your WUSTL key login information. The medical health history, immunization, and meningitis information does not need to be completed by a doctor.

Mandatory Student Health Insurance
Health care in the U.S. is extremely expensive. Therefore, Washington University has a mandatory health insurance policy that all students are required to purchase. The cost will be automatically billed to your student account. If a student already has health insurance, the Washington University insurance is still a required purchase. There are no exemptions allowed. To view a full description of the University’s plan, you can find more information at the Student Health Service website: http://shs.wustl.edu. You will be charged a Student Health Fee that will allow you access to the full-service medical clinic on campus. This is also a mandatory fee and will be charged to your Washington University student account. In conjunction with health fees, the university charges a $5.00 USD for the International Student Assistance Fund.
